Not a bad way to start the school year!
PS 111 students received school supplies collected by Councilman Jimmy Van Bramer as part of his 10th annual Back to School Supplies Drive.
From August 9 to September 11, community members donated thousands of school supplies, including backpacks, notebooks, pencils, crayons, rulers and more.
The supplies were all given to PS 111, which serves students that mostly live in the Queensbridge and Ravenswood Houses. Twenty-two percent of the students live in homeless shelters.
“All children deserve to start the school year with the tools they need to succeed,” Van Bramer says.
