CUNY’s Board of Trustees has named Kenneth Adams as the new president of LaGuardia Community College.
Adams currently serves as the dean of workforce and economic development at Bronx Community College.
He will succeed Interim President Paul Arcario as the college’s leader.
According to CUNY, Adams raised nearly $2 million to support BCC’s workforce training and career services initiatives while increasing Continuing Education enrollment by 45 percent.
Prior to joining CUNY, he served as acting commissioner of the NYS Department of Taxation and Finance. Before that, he was the president and CEO of Empire State Development for four years.
His prior roles include leading the Business Council of New York State, the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce and the MetroTech Area Business Improvement District. He was also the founding executive director of New York Cares.
Adams’ tenure at LaGuardia Community College begins on August 17.
