On Sunday, March 29, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., geographer Dr. Jack Eichenbaum, the Queens borough historian, is hosting a tour of Anable Basin in Long Island City.
As Eichenbaum notes, this is the area that Amazon rejected under community pressure last year. The tech giant was originally going to build its HQ2 campus for 25,000 jobs on the waterfront.
Even without Amazon, the area is still prime for artist and tech startup investments.
The tour will meet at the northeast corner of 21st Street and 44th Drive. That’s also the west end of the E train stop at Court Square/23rd Street.
The tour will be limited to 30 participants. There is a $20 fee payable at the start of the tour.
Registration is required at firstname.lastname@example.org.
