Now that Borough President Melinda Katz has officially become the next Queens District Attorney, the race to fill the borough presidency spot is well underway.
There are at least half a dozen contenders, including current and former elected officials. Astoria Councilman Costa Constantinides and LIC/Sunnyside/Woodside Councilman Jimmy Van Bramer are among those who have thrown their hat in the ring.
To help voters decide who is the best choice for Queens BP, organizations and political groups are hosting public forums all across the borough.
On Tuesday, December 10 at 7 p.m., Zone 126 and the Variety Boys & Girls Club of Queens are hosting a candidates forum on education.
Here’s the description they gave about this event:
A community dialogue with the Queens Borough President Candidates focused on the state of education, class size, the building of new schools, chronic absenteeism and other community issues affecting educational policy. The event is open to all in the community. Food and refreshments will be served. Join us in voicing community needs on education in Queens Borough.
As you can see in the poster above, Constantinides, Van Bramer, Councilman Donovan Richards, Assemblywoman Alicia Hyndman and former Councilwoman Elizabeth Crowley are all set to participate on Tuesday.
You won’t want to miss out on an important night all about education in Queens.
