Here’s your chance to help rename a Long Island City Park.
The Parks Department and Councilman Jimmy Van Bramer are hosting a public contest to rename Bridge and Tunnel Park.
Located on 50th Avenue between 11th Street and 11th Place, the park was established in 1957. Its name refers to its location between the Pulaski Bride and the Queens Midtown Tunnel.
The Parks Department website is accepting suggestions for a new name through December 31. Parks wants a name that is “positive and a meaningful reflection” of the community.
All suggestions will be reviewed by a panel of community members. Parks Commissioner Mitchell Silver will have the final say.
The winning name will be announced early next year.
