Immigration rights activist gives keynote at LaGuardia graduation

On Tuesday, immigrant rights activist and LaGuardia Community College alum Antonio Alarcon gave the keynote address for the school’s virtual graduation for the class of 2020.

Alarcon, who graduated in 2015, is a co-plaintiff in the DACA case, U.S. Department of Homeland Security v. Vidal et al. The Supreme Court heard oral arguments for the case last November and is expected to issue its decision this month.

Alarcon’s speech was broadcast to 3,253 members of LaGuardia’ class of 2020, family members, college leadership, faculty, staff and friends.

Other speakers included CUNY Chancellor Felix Matos Rodriguez, Interim LGCC President Dr. Paul Arcario and other elected officials.
