Growing Up Green Charter School gets $10K in state funding

State Senator Mike Gianaris announced this week that he has allocated $10,000 in state funding for Growing Up Green Charter School in the Dutch Kills section of LIC.

The funding will be used to support special education programs for the school.

“Every child deserves a full range of services and quality education, and I am proud this funding will help secure just that for our students in western Queens,” Gianaris says.

“When we meet families of children with IEPs who are joining Growing Up Green, many of them express that they are coming here because of the supportive and flexible learning environment and our commitment to support students with disabilities in an inclusive setting,” says Matthew Greenberg, the school’s founder and executive director.

“This grant will go towards funding for programs, tools and supports that will benefit our students both inside and outside the classroom.”
