On Wednesday, January 8, Friends of Court Square Library, Court Square Civic Association and Councilman Jimmy Van Bramer will rally to demand a new home for the Court Square Library.
The library’s lease on the ground floor of the Citi Building is slated to end in March. That means the 100,000 people who use the library each year will be out of a library until the Queens Public Library can find a new location for the branch.
The site has been home to the Court Square branch since 1989. During that time, of course, Court Square became one of the fastest growing neighborhoods in the country.
The rally will put pressure on Queens Public Library officials, which the councilman’s office says has been “negligent,” to find a new location.
The rally begins at 10 a.m. at 25-01 Jackson Avenue.
